Just like everyone else, kangaroos fart.

For decades, scientists have pursued the intriguing possibility that marsupials produce little to no methane. In turn, some experts have proposed that people should switch from eating beef to eating methane-free animals. However, recently studies found that kangaroo farts do contain methane.

Methane is a potent greenhouse gas. It has 20 times more heat-trapping potential than carbon dioxide. In a recent study, wallabies were fed the same diet that cows get, but only produced 1/4 to 1/3 as much methane. Even so, scientists joke that kangaroos are unlikely to be the solution for climate change.
